Blackstone Wins Three Contracts with USDA

Arlington, VA – October 30, 2013 – Blackstone Technology Group, a global IT and business consulting firm, announced three awards to continue supporting the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through Drupal implementations. Blackstone is providing services to Food and Nutrition Consumer Services (FNCS), and two of its agencies, Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP).

Blackstone has provided Drupal website development services for the past two years for FNS, and is excited to continue performing operations and maintenance (O&M) for the site. We will provide production operation and process support for the Drupal pages and Public Web applications, as applicable. Furthermore, the FNS Office of Information Technology (OIT) would like to improve the overall security posture of the agency web sites and enhance access to innovative web design and capabilities that are essential to support the whole agency communication strategy, and will be hosted on the NITC Drupal infrastructure. Blackstone will also help manage the National Information Technology Center (NITC) Drupal Production and associated operation environments.

Blackstone was also selected to develop, update, and maintain the FNCS Recipe Box application using Drupal 7, as well as perform O&M. The Recipe Box site will provide strong support for implementing Web 2.0 and mobile responsive features and accelerate content editing processes. The FNCS Recipe Box is a collection of quick, delicious, nutritious, cost-effective recipes for every type of cook. This website will enhance the overall user experience, and make it easier for site users to build recipes based on their nutritional needs and supplies on hand, as well as prepare shopping lists for various budgets.

Lastly, Blackstone was awarded the contract to develop, update, and maintain the CNPP website using Drupal 7, as well as perform on-going O&M. The purpose of the CNPP site is to provide access to a number of nutritional tools and information to consumers.  Blackstone will work with CNPP to create a robust platform to display an updated, visually stunning website that enhances users’ experience.

Blackstone is contracted for the FNS and CNPP work through the Production Support Services Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) that spans over five years along with Procentrix, Inc. as the prime contractor. For the FNCS Recipe Box project, Blackstone is a subcontractor to The Efiia Group on the Drupal Website Development BPA that spans five years.

“Blackstone is delighted to have partnered with USDA for several years in modernizing their web platforms and developing and maintaining web properties to deliver useful tools and informative web sites to citizens to support their nutritional needs.” says Donald Page, Executive Director of Blackstone’s Federal Practice.
